Fluorescence Inspection

The uses of UV Light go beyond the curing and exposure of materials. UV Light is used to illuminate areas for inspection in such applications as forensics and non-destructive testing (NDT) of metals. Because UV light can make materials fluoresce, this fluorescent response can be the basis for effective inspection systems.

Phoseon’s FX Series of Fluorescent Inspection systems use SLM technology, plus optics, sensors and software to produce high-intensity UV light for a potentially wide range of applications in the electronics and semiconductor industries. These products have the capability to use the patent-pending UV-FIM (UV Fluorescence Intensity Measurement) methodology, which allows for thickness measurement of some transparent and semi-transparent materials.

Flux Inspection

In electronic packaging the use of flip chip and related technologies is becoming common as a cost effective way to package silicon chips for later assembly to higher level products. Part of this process includes the application of flux in controlled amounts to allow for the successful joining of the chip to its interposer. Phoseon’s FX Series of fluorescence inspection systems can be used effectively as either offline or inline systems for inspection and measurement of flux deposits at high speed and with high accuracy.

Adhesive Inspection

Adhesives that have fluorescing properties can also be inspection using Phoseon’s FX Series of offline and inline capable inspection systems.
